Before They Were Stars: Tina Fey’s Bank Commercial
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Prime Time, NBC, 30 Rock, Commercials, Video,
UPDATE: Make sure to check out Paul Rudd as a Bat Mitzvah DJ here.
As painful as Liz Lemon’s commercial for “1-(900)-OK-Face” was to watch, we at least knew that clip wasn’t real. Unfortunately for Tina Fey, this spot for Mutual Savings Bank is.
After watching the video, keep one thing in mind: The things you did - or wore - in 1995 won’t necessarily prevent you from earning multiple Emmys in the future. (Until that time, you can revisit the classic 30 Rock spot after the jump.)

The road to the 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards officially kicked off early this morning. Modern Family‘s Sofia Vergara (who received a nod) and Community‘s Joel McHale (who didn’t) were the ones who had the honor of reading this year’s list of nominees.
Although Mad Men - with 17 nominations - once again topped off all dramas, 30 Rock did
notlead the comedies. Glee did. The freshman FOX series raked in a total of 19 noms, only a handful short of the overall leader. (HBO’s miniseries, The Pacific, received 24 mentions.) 30 Rock did receive 15 nominations, though, while Modern Family followed closely behind with 14.
The August 29 ceremony - which NBC will air live on both the East and West coasts - will be hosted by Jimmy Fallon. You can see a partial list of nominees after the jump.

VIDEO: Betty White Brings Big Laughs to SNL
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Late Night, NBC, Saturday Night Live, Video,
UPDATE: You can see Betty in unaired “Debbie Downer” and “Bronx Beat” sketches after the jump.
What is it about Mother’s Day that brings out the best in Saturday Night Live? (Remember Justin Timberlake’s “Motherlover” from just last year?)
Last night’s long-awaited broadcast with Betty White was arguably the best night the show had had in quite some time. (Of course, appearances from old SNL faves - Rachel Drath, Amy Poehler, Ana Gasteyer, Tina Fey, Maya Rudolph and Molly Shannon - were also responsible for a good number of the laughs.)
After the jump, you can watch just a few of the sketches - NPR, Scared Straight, Sally O’Malley and MacGruber - from the 88-year-old’s memorable visit.

VIDEO: Tina Fey Introduces Sarah Palin’s New Network
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Late Night, NBC, Saturday Night Live, Video,
“You know, ever since I won the silver medal in last year’s vice presidential election, I’ve made it my goal to connect with as many people of this great nation as possible,” Sarah Palin (a.k.a. Tina Fey) said during her appearance on yesterday’s Saturday Night Live. “You know, with my work as a contributor on FOX News and my new TLC reality show Sarah Palin’s Alaska, it just seemed like the next logical step was to launch my own network.”
What kind of programming would be featured on the Sarah Palin Network? My Daughter Only Sprained Her Ankle. You Can’t Seriously Be Considering Euthanizing Her, Tea Party Wheel of Fortune, Are You Smarter Than a Half-Term Governor? and Alaskanence - a show about a single woman who doesn’t believe in sex before marriage, who is struggling to raise her three young children - are just a few of the titles Palin’s new venture would air.

Tina Fey Will Return to SNL to Reprise Palin Role
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Comedy, Late Night, NBC, Saturday Night Live, Gossip, Video,
SNL alum Tina Fey will return to the series this Saturday (April 10), where she says she will once again impersonate former Alaska governor Sarah Palin.
Since SNL is live, there’s no guarantee that a skit will make it all the way to the broadcast…but chances are pretty good that the series will poke fun at the politician again. With Fey on the line-up, a Palin skit is truly irresistible.

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Late Night, NBC, Saturday Night Live, Rumors,
UPDATE: White will be appearing on May 8 with Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Molly Shannon, Maya Rudolph, Ana Gasteyer and Rachel Dratch.
It looks like NBC has struck (comedic) gold.
Over the weekend, actress Betty White confirmed to People magazine that she will indeed be appearing on Saturday Night Live. Her booking comes just over two months after a Facebook campaign was launched on her behalf.
“I don’t know why or how,” White said about the fan support, “but it’s been wonderful.”
Although Entertainment Weekly previously reported that she would be involved in a “Women of Comedy”-themed broadcast, the 88-year-old did not elaborate on her upcoming stint.

Betty White Nearing Deal with Saturday Night Live
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Late Night, NBC, Saturday Night Live, Rumors,
NBC may have chosen Jay Leno over Conan O’Brien, but the Peacock can still recognize good comedy.
An internet campaign urging the network to get Betty White on Saturday Night Live appears to have finally worked. Execs are reportedly sealing a deal that would bring the comedienne - and several other funny ladies - to the stage.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the 88-year-old’s appearance may become part of a proposed “Women of Comedy” event. Others rumored for that possible show include Molly Shannon, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler—all SNL alums.
As of today, nearly 430,000 people have already joined the “Betty White to Host SNL (please?)!” page on Facebook.
No projected air date for White’s broadcast has yet been announced.

TV Talk: Spike Orders Tiger Woods-Esque Show, Octomom Heads to The View
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Daytime, Drama, Late Night, Prime Time, Specials, Talk Shows, ABC, Cable, NBC, Syndication, Saturday Night Live, Gossip, News,
-Spike TV has ordered a pilot about a golfer (John Schneider) and his sex-crazed caddy…named Tiger. It’s not known who’ll play John’s buddy in Back Nine.
-Tina Fey’s admits her Saturday Night Live hosting gig this April will likely include a Sarah Palin sketch. At least there’ll be one funny part that night.
-Nadya Suleman will be leaving her babies behind to co-host The View next Wednesday. The noise may send the Octomom running back home.
-Meanwhile, Barbara Walters has decided that her upcoming Oscars special will be her last. Having to keep ten Best Film names straight is more than she can handle.
-Stewart Bailey, a former co-executive producer on the Daily Show, is now in charge of helping Last Call with Carson Daly. It’s a shame to see talent like that wasted.
2010 Screen Actors Guild Award Nominations (TV)
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Award Shows, Comedy, Drama, Music, Prime Time, Sci-Fi/Horror, ABC, Cable, CBS, FX, FOX, HBO, NBC, PBS, Showtime, TNT-HD, 30 Rock, House, Medium, The Office, News,
Squeezed in between the Golden Globes broadcast and the Oscar nominations is an awards ceremony voted on solely by the actors. (So unlike the People’s Choice Awards, this actually has meaning.)
For the 16th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, we’ll see a lot of the old and just a little bit of the new. Here are some of the noteworthy mentions from this year’s list of television nominees:
- The Closer, Dexter and 30 Rock lead this year’s pack with three nominations each.
- Despite no individual mentions, freshman comedies Modern Family and Glee were both honored in the Best Ensemble category.
- Samantha Who‘s Christina Applegate received a nomination despite starring in a canceled show.
- True Blood received its first nom—but just for its cast, not for any single actor.
The SAG Awards will air Saturday, Jan. 23 on both TNT and TBS.
(You can find the full list of TV nominees after the jump. Click here for the film nominations.)
